Mali: A powerfull letter from a young African to ECOWAS

Mali: A powerfull letter from a young African to ECOWAS

I am sad, I am ashamed, I am shocked with lots of questions without answers. As a Black African, I cannot understand why it keeps taking Africans to betray and sell the African people’s soul, something White people, Chinese, Indians, etc., would never do.

Dear ECOWAS –

On January 10th, 2022, you made my tears fall. You reminded me of what I have learn in History and slavery, when our ancestors were selling our own Black people to the White people in exchange of forks and spoons.

I am saddened, I lost hope, because I cannot imagine how you (ECOWAS) did not hesitate to sacrifice our own Black people just to make the White people (France) happy, happy to rob our own wealth, the wealth under the ground of Mali, an African country.

In 2022, I was hoping for unity, I was hoping for Africans helping Africans and not selling the African people’s soul to a country that bases its survival on the robbing of Africa while keeping Africa in poverty and misery. None of you at ECOWAS ignore the constant and endless robbery of France against African countries feel for centuries. None of you ignore that the only reason why Mali decides to properly prepare for an adequate election is to end these repetitive coups against the Malian people and to preserve its sovereignty.

Yet, you decide, against the African people’s will that you are supposed to protect. You betray all of us. You chose neocolonialism over respectful partnership based on sovereign countries respective will. Mali has the right to choose whomever they want to partner with.

I am saddened, because you (ECOWAS) are killing the hope for a strong Africa that Kwame Nkrumah, Jerry Rawlings, etc. have always been fighting for. When Mali needed help to fight terrorism, none of the African countries, none of the ECOWAS countries come to Mali’s rescue. Yet, it could just take 1,000 soldiers from each country to help preserve the territorial integrity and the security of the Malian people. But you never showed up, you never helped, you just waited for the time to help the colonizer (France) to get your weapons out. You decided to sanction the Malian people for the beautiful eyes of France.

I am sad, I am ashamed today, because I cannot argue when I am treated like a slave today. Why? Well, because our African leaders who are supposed to lead by example, to show their love for Africa, are consistently betraying Africans, selling their soul to the devil (France) without truly helping Africa first, and acting just like slaves.

France has been in Mali for over a decade. If they cannot get the job done, it is common sense for the Malian people to seek help, isn’t it? So why is it a crime? If you care truly about Mali, why can’t you offer an African help to the Malian people? Why are you choosing to sell our soul to the devil (France)?

I am sad, I am ashamed, I am shocked with lots of questions without answers. As a Black African, I cannot understand why it keeps taking Africans to betray and sell the African people’s soul, something White people, Chinese, Indians, etc., would never do.

Dear ECOWAS, please, act responsibly. Mali and the francophone Africa need to decolonize from France. Help us, do not betray us!
